[Bug 1165355] Re: UPDATE REQUEST: python27-distribute 0.6.36 is available upstream
We have run into a hiccup in regards to this package. It turns out that
only RHEL/CentOS 5 packages were built back on 2013-04-08. It is
unfortunate that the RHEL/CentOS 6 packages were not built at the same
time as the RHEL/CentOS 5 packages. This is a situation we try to
avoid, as we like to keep all versions of a package on the same release
schedule.
Looking over the change log, this release is only to fix an issue within
Windows:
------
0.6.36
------
* Pull Request #35: In `Buildout `issue 64`_
<https://github.com/buildout/buildout/issues/64>`_, it was reported that
under Python 3, installation of distutils scripts could attempt to copy
the ``__pycache__`` directory as a file, causing an error, apparently only
under Windows. Easy_install now skips all directories when processing
metadata scripts.
Since this release does not effect Linux, I am going to go head and mark the RHEL/CentOS 5 packages as stable-candidate as they have been within the testing repos for two weeks. The RHEL/CentOS 6 packages have just been built and have been tagged as testing-candidate. If no issues are reported within the next two weeks, the RHEL/CentOS 6 packages will then get pushed to the stable repos.
Sorry for any confusion.
