[Bug 1358292] Re: wl: cloud-init

Howdy Daniel,

Thanks for taking the time to submit this request. With a new package
requests, we evaluate if it would be a good fit for IUS and if it is
maintainable with our current resources.

upstream - 0.7.5
epel5 - 0.6.3
epel6 - 0.7.4
epel7 - 0.7.5

Were you just referring to epel5? I would be surprised if 0.7.4 from
epel6 is missing much from the upstream 0.7.5.

I created some CentOS cloud servers on the Rackspace Cloud, and it
appears that CentOS 6 and 7 both have cloud-init installed from EPEL.
Do you know which pip packages are being installed, and if there are
epel packages available?

Title:
  wl: cloud-init

Status in IUS Community Project:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Rackspace uses cloud init on every cloud server image, but because the cloud-init package in epel is so old, and doesn't appear
to be getting an update any time soon, it would be nice to have this updated.

Because it is a package we rely on so heavily in our cloud environment, to the point that we have been using pip to install
up to date python packages using pip instead of installing them from packages, which causes problems with customers.

images@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for any questions about what is needed for RHEL
  and CENTOS.

  Thanks
  Daniel
