[Bug 1359069] Re: php*-pear creates /var/www/html
Hello Ralf,
Thanks for taking the time to contact us about this issue. Looking at
the stock php-pear package on EL 6 and 7, the /var/www/html directory is
included like the IUS packages. I can't help but think it was not
included by accident. I don't see any bugs within Red Hat bugzilla
about the /var/www/html directory and php-pear. Also the change log of
the RPM does not mention when it got added. I would assume it has
always been there and needed for some pear modules.
One work around would be to use a non default location for your document
root like /var/www/websites/.

Title:
php*-pear creates /var/www/html
Status in IUS Community Project:
Won't Fix
Bug description:
Installing php*u-pear on a system with a readonly mounted document
root (/var/www/html) fails:
Running Transaction
Installing : 1:php55u-pear-1.9.4-20.ius.el6.noarch 1/1
Error unpacking rpm package 1:php55u-pear-1.9.4-20.ius.el6.noarch
warning: /etc/pear.conf created as /etc/pear.conf.rpmnew
error: unpacking of archive failed on file /var/www/html: cpio: lsetfilecon
Verifying : 1:php55u-pear-1.9.4-20.ius.el6.noarch 1/1
Failed:
php55u-pear.noarch 1:1.9.4-20.ius.el6
I know it is a very special situation to have a readonly nfs-mount for
document root, thought I fail to see what creating of /var/www/html
has to do with PEAR package. All webserver will create their document
root anyway.
Therefore I ask if you could remove it from spec file.
Ralf
