  caught a bug in KVRageYanez:
  the code would only work with a special hacked version of the 'range'
  library, not the standard version from R. Yanez.
  in order to compile with standard version:
   
   make debug=yes WITH_RANGE_YANEZ=yes RANGE_YANEZ_DIR=[range installation directory]
  
  in order to compile with hacked version:
   
   make debug=yes WITH_MODIFIED_RANGE_YANEZ=yes RANGE_YANEZ_DIR=[range installation directory]
