Title:
Kernel panic / hard freeze lock with 3.5.0-31-generic (fglrx)
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
I am running Ubuntu 12.10 with fglrx 13.4. The system works fine with
the exception:
If I run either kernels 3.5.0-31-generic or 3.5.0-32-generic, I get a kernel panic/hard freeze within about 5-30 minutes of using the computer.
When the kernel panic occurs, the system is frozen. Neither the mouse, nor the keyboard are responding. I need to perform a hard reset in order to use the laptop again.
Using an older fglrx driver, the system would freeze predictably
within 5 minutes of running. With fglrx 13.4, it freezes within 10-20
minutes, predictably.
I managed to get the kernel panic details using "netconsole":
