[Bug 1201234] Re: can't boot ubuntu with crossfire
I tried downgrading BIOS to all versions which supports AM3+ CPU's (3030, 3029, 3027) : same behaviour.
I unplugged one of the 2 video card : same behaviour.
then I realized that, on the first screenshot, it seems to hang after ACPI.
So instead of testing with BIOS default settings, I turned off many options, and it worked !
then I switched on those options one by one, to find that it's C1E that has to be disabled.
replugging the 2nd card and flashing to le lastest BIOS works fine if I disable C1E.
C1E support is not very important as C6 works (CPU freq slow down when idle).
kernel loads correctly, X server doesnn't work properly on 13.04 and saucy daily. but it works fine on 12.04 !
but this is another bug.
** Summary changed:
- can't boot ubuntu with crossfire
+ can't boot ubuntu with C1E support enabled

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
hi ;
sorry not following bug report procedure, but as the computer involved isn't able to boot, I must fidn a way to report.
So the computer is hanging very quickly at the beggining of the boot
(no kernel panic), then progressing a little when pressing a key, and
then it is completly hanged (keyboard unresponsive, but no kernel
panic).
Here are the details :
tried ubuntu 13.04, 12.04, live-cd, installed (before I bought my cards) ... same behaviour
card are 2x radeon 7850
motherboard is Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3
CPU is AMD FX 8320
I'll add 2 "screenshots" corresponding to the 2 hangs described.
