[Bug 1202905] Re: Display configuration lost with the last update of Linux

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.11 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Title:
Display configuration lost with the last update of Linux

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Since the last update of Linux header, at each startup on my 64 bytes
machine with Precise 12.04, I've a message saying my display is not
recognized. The startup is bloked until I accept to continue in low
  resolution.

Yesterday, I've updated my other pc, a 32 bytes also, with Precise
12.04, and the same issue appears.

Now, on both machines, the program System >> Preferences >> Display
say the screen is unknow and the feature 'Detect the display' is not
  operating.

Note: the resolution on the two machines is exact (1600x900)

  I join the two Xorg.log
