Today I had the same crash again, then updated the bios, and I have not
encountered this crash since. If it occurs at some later time, I'll
report back.

  About twice or three times a work day, X freezes, dmesg shows

  Restarting X11 does not work, I have to restart the laptop to start
  X11 again.

  This only started after upgrading from quantal to raring.
