[Bug 913272] Re: drm:intel_dsm_platform_mux_info] *ERROR* MUX INFO call failed‏

I have Inpiron 14z DELL. lspci reports that I have: Ivy Bridge Graphics Controller. Driver=i915. 64 bits CPU i7. I have BIOS A12. I have Ubuntu 12.04 currently with 3.2.0-48
While I am able to install the system, it shows in dmesg logs: ERROR:drm:intel_dsm_platform_mux_info] *ERROR* MUX INFO call failed‏. I see this error every time I start the machine in dmesg. The computer screen ***sometimes (not always) freezes with only cursor moving. Because it freezes only ***sometimes, it makes me believe it is a timing error. I have upgrade BIOS to A12. It may freeze once per day or once per week. I have tried several different kernels from 3.2 to higher. The lower kernels all exhibited this error. Some of the higher kernels I could not get working. I want to caution you that if you install and it works, it still may freeze at some time because I think itis a timing error. (maybe critical section problem). Therefore any ***proposed solution to this problem should be checked by code review rather than testing. It may test okay for few days. It requires somebody looking if some resources can be blocked and that would freeze the display. -IMHO
