Title:
  System boots into a black screen in EFI mode, but desktop loads
  normally in legacy mode

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  I have a new pc portable acer v3-771g with Win 8 in EFI mode. I have
  tried Ubuntu 12.04.2 and 13.04.  If I don't use the nomodeset code in
  EFI mode, the system boots into a black screen and to tty1 only (no
  desktop) with nomodeset.

  However, when I change the BIOS to boot in the legacy mode , Raring
  boots to the desktop with the nomodeset parameter but not 12.04.2.  I
  have tried also Fedora 18 and Opensuse 12.3 and the problem is the
  same except that Opensuse boots in EFI mode with the nomodeset
  parameter. So I use just Win 8 and Opensuse 12.3 now in EFI mode , but
  I like very will Ubuntu. How can you help me to install it in the EFI
  mode??
