[Bug 1117659] Re: "Graphical freeze" or extrem slowdown
Hendrik Knackstedt, could you please confirm this issue exists with the
latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains,
could you please run the following command in the development release
from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will
automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this
report:
apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number>

Title:
10de:06e9 [Acer Aspire 4935G] "Graphical freeze" or extrem slowdown
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
The system kind of "freezes" randomly (opening Unity Dash, browsing
with Firefox, opening LibreOffice). Moving the mouse or using keyboard
shortcuts that result in a graphical reaction don't produce an
immediate result but eventually an result at a later time (sometimes
up to 5 or more minutes later). Sometimes there is also problems with
the graphical output (parts of the screen become black). To get out of
this "freeze" it helps to switch to a console (ctrl+alt+f1) which
works almost immediately (sometimes takes a few seconds but faster
than anything else), then switch back using ctrl+alt+f7. The system
works as expected again.
This is on an Acer Aspire 4935G with NVIDIA graphics (proprietary
driver).
