[Bug 1059171] Re: error: sparse file not allowed message shown when suspending

update is available for your BIOS (1804). If you update to this, does it
change anything?

If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

  when attempting to suspend an m2n-sli motherboard with ubuntu 12.04, a message saying error: sparse file not allowed is shown on screen, the usb devices turn off, and then the machine never shuts down.
