[Bug 1036356] Re: Network sometimes extremely slow - ping over 1000 ms

Chris, as per
http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/19/Product/precision-m6500
an update is available for your BIOS (A10). If you update to this, does
it change anything?

If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
  Network sometimes extremely slow - ping over 1000 ms

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Today network (connected via WLAN) feels very sluggish. A good
  indication for that can be achived by a simple ping:

  $ ping www.heise.de
  PING www.heise.de (193.99.144.85) 56(84) bytes of data.

  After reboot situation was better - but still showed apart from normal
  ping (~ 50 ms) once in a while "bursts" of times over 1000 ms.

  It's probably related to these messages I found in the log that are now appearing:
  iwlwifi 0000:0c:00.0: Queue 11 stuck for 2000 ms.
  iwlwifi 0000:0c:00.0: Current read_ptr 151 write_ptr 159
  iwlwifi 0000:0c:00.0: On demand firmware reload
  ieee80211 phy0: Hardware restart was requested
