Re: [Bug 1032625] Re: System freezes in heavy load

Dear Christopher,

I'm sorry to tell you that I changed my laptop since then and that my
new hardware had never had any problem with Ubuntu, so I'm afraid to say
I cannot help you more with this concern.

All the best,

Ludovic Duvaux

Please do not test the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. Title:
  System freezes in heavy load

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Hello,

I've got a Dell studio 1558 and I experience the following bug (see at bottom for the relevant syslog content). It seems to happen while the laptop is in cpu heavy load (when running Déjà Dup for example but not only, can be a lot of program running at the same time) though I'm not completely sure (kind of random). It seems to happen by bursts as well: for 30 minutes, it would crash every five minutes and then be stable for hours, though this pattern can just be an artefact of my use of the laptop (e.g. the system may be more prone to freeze when I start a lot of applications at the same time as when the laptop restarts for instance).
Anyway, the bug tends to make my system very unstable as I need to make heavy computations relatively often.

Also, the bug is quite recent (not sure it happened before the update
to the kernel 3.2.0-27) made on the 24th of July on my laptop.
Moreover it may be even younger as I succesfully made a Déjà Dup
backup on the 27th of July (that is not possible anymore).

Is there any workaround yet ?
  Good luck with it,
  Thank you

  Ludovic
