[Bug 671888] Re: Unable to find a medium containing a live file sytem (usb optical drive)
Marco, could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest
development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains,
could you please run the following command in your working install from
a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will
automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this
report:
apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number>
** Tags added: maverick needs-kernel-logs regression-release
** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
Status: Confirmed => Incomplete

Title:
Unable to find a medium containing a live file sytem (usb optical
drive)
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: casper
I'm unable to boot the live CD of Ubuntu 10.10 (i386) on a netbook
Sony Vaio P model VPCP11Z9E with the SONY external USB (2.0) CD/DVD
reader/burner.
I've tried with a USB boot stick created with the Ubuntu Startup Disk
Creator but I get the same error.
I've tried the kernel options all_generic_ide floppy=off irqpoll
without results.
On the netbook I can install the CD of Ubuntu 10.04 without problems.
Can I save the dmesg output in the BusyBox console?
Thanks.
