Re: [Bug 1169376] Re: XPS13 backlight stopped working after update 3.8.0-18.28
I have a full hd xps13... that is, IvyBridge and I didn't change the UEFI
configuration of my laptop and my brightness control; I will provide the
exact details when I arrive at home today.
The work around somebody posted here is working for my so I were not
willing to reinstall UEFI version before 13.10 is released but I would do
it this weekend to verify if that works in my laptop or I could try any
patch if anybody post a simple guide on how to do it.

Title:
XPS13 backlight stopped working after update 3.8.0-18.28
Status in Dell Sputnik:
Confirmed
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
I'm on 13.04 beta 2 and I've been updating daily. After today's
update, I was asked to restart and, after the restart, the backlight
stopped working. What's worse is that the backlight is stuck in the
lowest possible setting. I can barely see enough to type out this bug
report. This is not a hardware problem. When I restart the computer
the backlight turns on property but burns off when the Ubuntu
encryption screen comes up (I'm using full disk encryption). Please
fix this as soon as possible.
