Title:
2.7 GB drive shows only 746 GB
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
In Windows 7 the partition on an external drive is recognized and
works fine. Checkdisk reports no problems.
In Ubuntu 13.04 the partition is not recognized. GParted only shows
unallocated disk space.
Gdisk says:
sudo gdisk -l /dev/sdc
GPT fdisk (gdisk) version 0.8.5
Partition table scan:
MBR: protective
BSD: not present
APM: not present
GPT: present
Found valid GPT with protective MBR; using GPT.
Warning! Secondary partition table overlaps the last partition by
4294966385 blocks!
You will need to delete this partition or resize it in another utility.
Disk /dev/sdc: 1565565872 sectors, 746.5 GiB
Logical sector size: 512 bytes
Disk identifier (GUID): AAD95B0E-B532-46E0-8A90-CE52F34B2792
Partition table holds up to 128 entries
First usable sector is 34, last usable sector is 1565565838
Partitions will be aligned on 8-sector boundaries
Total free space is 2014 sectors (1007.0 KiB)
Number Start (sector) End (sector) Size Code Name
1 34 262177 128.0 MiB 0C01 Microsoft reserved part
2 264192 5860532223 2.7 TiB 0700 Basic data partition
The awkward thing is: gdisk reports a disk size of 746.5 GiB whereas
Windows' Disk Management (correctly) reports a size of 2794,39 GB.
How can I get the disk to work?
