[Bug 1412042] Re: [Toshiba Satellite P855-S5102] Fan too loud while CPU idle
jtd, as a potential WORKAROUND, does the following terminal command help address the fan noise level:
sudo cpufreq-selector --cpu=0 --governor=powersave && sudo cpufreq-selector --cpu=1 --governor=powersave && sudo cpufreq-selector --cpu=2 --governor=powersave && sudo cpufreq-selector --cpu=3 --governor=powersave
As well, did this problem not occur in a release prior to 14.04?
Also, would the latest mainline kernel 3.19-rc6 change anything?

Title:
[Toshiba Satellite P855-S5102] Fan too loud while CPU idle
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
On Windows 8.1, fan is NOT loud. On Ubuntu 14.04x64, fan is always too
loud (30 minutes after boot and after). BIOS is already updated.
Update: If battery power only, fan possibly quiet for more time.
I was hoping it was my LCD cooling_device4, but that has current
cooling state 100 even when fan is quiet.
