So your issue may be dealt with as soon as possible, and so your hardware may be tracked by having necessary debugging information automatically attached, could you please file a new report with Ubuntu by executing the following in a terminal while booted into the default Ubuntu repository kernel via:
ubuntu-bug linux

  Ubuntu14.04: Kernel Panic - not syncing on Ubuntu installation

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I am getting the following error when I try to install Ubuntu desktop
  14.04 on my HP Pavilion  a320n. It says "Kernel Panic - not syncing:
  Attempted to kill init! exitcode 0x00000009. It also happens when I
  try any of the other installation screen options. Do to me not being
  able to access terminal i could not get all of the console
  information. It is running on 512 MB of ram, an Athlon XP 2800+ 32 bit
  processor, and a Western Digital WD1600 hard drive. If anyone knows
  what this is and how I can fix it, it would be greatly appreciated.
