  offset kernel, can't boot

Bug description:
  i upgraded online from 14.04 to 14.10. all worked well. then i tried
  to clean my system using the symptic package manager and delete old
  kernels. then i tried to update to 3.19 kernel. then i could not
  reboot due to offset kernel panic.
