[Bug 1413149] Re: rtsx_usb_ms: system load immediately climbs, and stays above 1.00

This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves
the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the
results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-
utopic' to 'verification-done-utopic'.

If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will
be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how
to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!

I'm running 64 bit ubuntu 14.10 on an Asus N550JK-DB74T laptop. When
I startup Ubuntu the system load climbs to 1.00 within a minute, and
it never goes below 1.00 again, despite my processor being idle. This
behavior occurs in all the newer kernels I installed from
  http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ but when I installed
the kernel from ubuntu 14.04, as well when I ran the ubuntu 14.04 from
a usb the load average behaved normally, so the bug must have started
in either kernel 3.15 or 3.16.

When I posted this to ubuntu forums, a very helpful person able to
point me to this bug report: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=765717 and to this submitted patch
https://lkml.org/lkml/2014/11/5/905 . When I applied that patch to
kernel 3.16 my issue was solved. However it doesn't seem that this
patch has been has been merged into the kernel, even though it was
submitted well in time for the 3.19 merge window. I was advised to
file this bug report in the meantime.
