[Bug 1217966] Re: Disk connected via USB 3.0 not visible
The 3.8.0-30 kernel is now available in the -proposed repository. Would it be possible for you to test this latest kernel and post back if it resolves this bug?
See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed.
Thank you in advance!

Title:
Disk connected via USB 3.0 not visible
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Disk (model ST500LM0 12 HN-M500MB) connected to the laptop (model ASUS
X55U) via USB 3.0 port is not visible in the system. After connection,
the disk is turned on (led is on) but is not visible as device under
the Ubuntu system (under Disk application or fdisk -l there is no such
device as well). No mount and no popup window with disk content too.
Problem is related to the new kernel 3.8.0-29. Affter load previous
kernel version 3.8.0-27 disk works as it should (popup window and
automatically mounted). I saw this bug just after updates
installation, I wasn't able to connect disk via USB 3.0 again. Other
disks or flash seems to work fine. But this model after updates don't.
Works only if I run Ubuntu with older kernel version (3.8.0-27).
Please help.
