[Bug 1402401] Re: Xorg freeze when switching to text console and back
the "buggy and outdated" bios seems to be mostly the same as the one
that came with the machine (207), the changelog only mentions something
about disk power management; I updated it, anyway:
UX302LG.210
06/16/2014
This seems to be a GPU lockup, though, when it happened the day before
yesterday I was looking at something on youtube, and the audio (over
Bluetooth, no less) kept going until the end of the clip; when
attempting to switch to a text console I saw briefly something along the
lines of "gpu queue underrun"; the keyboard is useless, though, apart
from the Magic SysRq combinations.
Nothing gets logged, btw (and the disk is fine, syslog records the
kernel messages when I'm doing the SysRq dance (sync, remount read-only,
reboot).

Title:
Xorg freeze when switching to text console and back
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Sometimes the computer becomes unresponsive after switching to a text
console and back; this seems to be an Xorg and / or kernel driver
crash (there is a backtrace in dmesg that seems to be from Intel
drivers).
The rest of the system worked fine, I could SSH into it and restart
Xorg. I had an (html5) Youtube video playing in Firefox when the
lockup happened, I'll try to see if that was the culprit (I switched a
few times to text console and back after restarting X and all was
fine, but I didn't have a video running)
