This is my all-around computer. The lockup is not predictible, so I
would have to run off an USB stick for weeks maybe, and I have work to
do (also, carrying the laptop around with a dongle sticking out to the
side is not exactly practical, and giving up suspend is a no-no)

Is there something I can do to gather information when this happens with
the current system? Some official kernel and / or Xorg drivers with more
debugging info enabled?

Title:
Xorg freeze when switching to text console and back

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Sometimes the computer becomes unresponsive after switching to a text
console and back; this seems to be an Xorg and / or kernel driver
crash (there is a backtrace in dmesg that seems to be from Intel
  drivers).

The rest of the system worked fine, I could SSH into it and restart
Xorg. I had an (html5) Youtube video playing in Firefox when the
lockup happened, I'll try to see if that was the culprit (I switched a
few times to text console and back after restarting X and all was
fine, but I didn't have a video running)
