I have the same problem in Asus A450LC with ubuntu 14.04 fresh installed.
I tried to install Windows, and it works just fine. Any idea?

Bug description:
  Trackpad doesn't work in Asus A450L from the begining in Ubuntu 14.04,
  without any error, no "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" when I execute cat
  /proc/bus/input/devices command
