[Bug 1427033] Re: lubuntu 14.04.2 x64 - Full freeze of system on Amilo A1650G Laptop
Possible that I have found the error.
I said at the beginning, there is no problem with the temperature. Was
perhaps a mistake.
Have Windows 7 is installed for testing. It is noticeable after a while,
the surface of the laptop is a little cooler.
It looks as if the power-saving features in open source Radeon driver are not complete.
As a result, the graphics card under Linux is much hotter than under Windows.
Unfortunately there are propietary drivers no longer support the old
card and the newer driver does not run on current xserver version.
I can not directly check the temperature unfortunately. The card has no
sensor.
Have googled and found some information. Especially for Dynamic Power
Management, which is not standard 'activated in 14.04 despite the
contrary statement.
sadly it does not help when activated manualy.
last supported ubuntu version of closed source driver is 9.00.
Will test in the next few days. But is a little old for my taste.

Title:
lubuntu 14.04.2 x64 - Full freeze of system on Amilo A1650G Laptop
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
hello
have here the problem is that the system completely freezes suddenly
after 10-30 minutes. the mouse does not move and the keyboard stops
responding. not even SysReq Magic Key work.
in rare cases shows at the same time a graphic error. e.g. white /
gray horizontal stripes.
the system is a standard Lubuntu installation. I added only minitube.
and no settings changed.
on the same machine was previously the last Manjaro version installed and exhibited the exact same behavior.
my guess is a kernel bug. but I am total beginner.
for comparison runs Windows XP Professional x64 on same machine
without any problems.
an overheating problem can I exclude. under normal use the laptop is indeed warm but not hot.
sensor shows a maximum of 65 ° C. what is completely in normal range.
