[Bug 1442908] Re: Realtek RTL8723BE wireless card drops connection in Linux kernel 3.19.0-13
Hello. I have a Ralink with RT2561/RT61 chip. In Kubuntu 15.04 my
connection is very unstable using NetworkManager, but with Wicd my
connection is stable. Could you try Wicd? The problem is that in Kubuntu
15.04 is not possible uninstall "network-manager" because it also
uninstalled "plasma-desktop". To test you should do:
$ sudo apt-get install wicd wicd-gtk
During installation it will ask you to add your user to the group "netdev".
$ sudo pkill -9 NetworkManager
Start wicd from "menu" > "internet". If it does not start, you do:
$ sudo rm /var/run/wicd/wicd.pid
and try again.
You note that Wicd does not automatically detect the encryption mode for your network. You must choose the password type from propierties. Probabily if you use WEP you should choose Wep (Passphrase), or if it Wpa you choose WPA 1/2 (Hex [0-9/A-F]).
Also note that wicd connects to internet but will not tell you that you're connected, you try from the browser to know you are connected.
