[Bug 1158087] Re: Ubuntu 12.10 HP probook 4740s incredible overheating issue

Dayvi, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number>

Title:
Ubuntu 12.10 HP probook 4740s incredible overheating issue

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I use ubuntu as my work OS for programming, however the temparature
rises to 60-70+ °C even when I am not doing anything on my laptop, on
12.04 LTS it would only go that high if I was running some high
performance cost Java software or compiling a lot of data, I
understand the issue is due to graphical drivers not working
correctly, I have tried to install AMD proprietary drivers and it did
  not solve anything.

current OS 12.04 just downgraded from 12.10
