[Bug 1442781] Re: wifi continually tries to authenticate but fails on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with network manager

In the end I solved this problem by switching to Wicd Network Manager
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WICD) and the problem has not emerged
again.

Note: The default Network Manager is still installed on my system, but I
have disabled Networking on it and no longer use it. WICD works better
across wifi and wired networks I have found - generally speaking.

** Description changed:

  When I attempt to use wifi it keeps saying its authenticating and then
  does not connect. I can see all the 2G wifi networks. Network manager
  will keep trying for up to an hour and then suddenly it will connect
  like magic! Also, I have installed both WICD Network Manager and
  Ubuntu's Network Manager on my system, but I am only using Ubuntu's
  Network Manager.

  I've tried:
  * Using software updater to update my system fully
  * Restarting my laptop
  * Restarting the router
  * Connecting to the wifi with my phone (works fine!) whilst I am struggling to connect with my laptop
  * Disabling network manager and re-enabling it
  * Disabling wifi then re-enabling it
  * Disabling wifi and networking and then re-enabling it
  * In Terminal: sudo service network-manager restart
