[Bug 578146] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 : System hangs after SCSI probing
Is it possible that graphics driver is broken?
after pressing ALT+F7 the system show a black screen with an underscore blinking cursor at top left and no gdm session.
How to reinstall the ATI driver in chroot mode with live CD?

Bug description:
On a DELL studio XPS, with a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 x86 Desktop, the system hangs at boot almost every time (80% of the time).
Removing 'quiet splash' boot option does not help.
Booting in recovery mode does not help too.
When it hangs, the latest messages displayed are :
