[Bug 1204369] Re: Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad freezing and sticking since 13.04 Raring upgrade

Sam Gentle, Could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest
development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains,
could you please run the following command in the development release
from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will
automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this
report:

apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number>

Title:
Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad freezing and sticking since 13.04
  Raring upgrade

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Hi there,

I recently upgraded my mid-2011 Mac Mini (aka Macmini5,1) to Ubuntu
13.04 Raring from 12.10. Since then I've been experiencing frequent
freezes on my bluetooth keyboard and trackpad. By freezes I mean this:

If I'm typing, keys will occasssssssssssssionally stick or briefly not
respond. My trackpad is the same, except that the touch/click inputs
will be stuck on, meaning that single-finger clicks will be
interpreted as two-finger (right) clicks and the trackpad will not
move. I can only recccccccccccccccover from this situation by wildly
  tapping and clicking the trackpad.

The freezes happen at random intervals, so I don't think it's a result
of any kind of regular timeout. But frequently enough that on average
they happen every few minutes. They don't last long (the above were
genuine examples of briefly stuck keys) so my suspicion is that it's
some kind of temporary bluetooth dropout/reconnection. I don't see any
lights flashing on my keyboard or trackpad, which usually happens in
the event of a full disconnection.

The only relevant log messages I can see are a bunch of these in syslog and kern.log:
  kernel: [487681.166937] power_supply hid-90:84:0d:fd:c9:e5-battery: driver failed to report `capacity' property: -5

Which I suspect is a red herring. It's definitely not a hardware
issue, as this wasn't happening with the exact same hardware setup
prior to my 13.04 upgrade. The machine has since been moved from my
office to my house, so I don't think there's any
environmental/wireless interference factors at play. I've replaced the
  batteries as well.

Let me know if there's any other information I can give that might
help you track down this bug. It is super irritating so I am very
motivated to help. I can probably get accccccccccccccess to a usb
bluetooth dongle if that would be useful in isolating whether it's a
problem specific to the Mac Mini's bluetooth controller.
