Unable to resume from second consecutive suspend

Bug description:
Unable to resume from second suspend (works fine one time only). Upon
resuming the second time, I see no display (backlight doesn't even
come on). If I have already suspended/resumed successfully once, even
closing the laptop lid will cause the same problem: no display, no
backlight. Ctrl+alt+backspace or REISUB seem to do nothing.

Also, after resetting the machine, networking is disabled upon the
next boot. I have to re-enable networking by clicking on the
  NetworkManager Applet.

This is a Toshiba A305 laptop with Intel GM965/x3100 graphics. Clean
  installation of Ubuntu 10.04.

This seems very similar to Bug #160763, but I'm not able to determine
whether it is the same problem.
