  i am removing packages so that i can install the newest version.  i am
  not very good at this and followed the instructions on this page:
  http://askubuntu.com/questions/298487/not-enough-free-disk-space-when-
  upgrading

  BTW, the instructions were easy to follow and set up for noobs like
  me.  if you know the author of the instructions, tell him/her that it
  was well written!
