[Bug 1467923] Re: HP Smart Array Controller kernel driver crash when running smartctl

 

I have installed 4.1 and ran the smart test.

The kernel seems that is not crashing but many errors are found in the
log (see the attachment).

The drive is not usable anymore:

  Tested on 4 servers.
  They all have the latest firmware.
  OS is Ubuntu 14.04.

  Tested with kernel 3.13.0, 3.16.0, 3.19.0.

  To reproduce the crash faster:

  I have created a script and run:

  smartctl -a -d cciss,x /dev/sg0, where x=0..11

  in a while (true).

  It crashed in less than a minute.
