[Bug 595174] Re: Library crashes when used on amd64

 

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.

It is hard to tell if this fix made it into Ubuntu 10.04 now that it has
reached end of life. However, I see that libmodplug version 1:0.8.8.4-1
is available in Ubuntu 12.04 and later releases so I believe this can be
marked Fix Released.

Bug description:
  This is the ubuntu version of debian bug #585699:

  > Version 0.8.7 of libmodplug library is not working properly on amd64. Playing any music module will cause the library to crash.

  > This affects gstreamer-plugins-bad, which links to this library and this in turn affects other software such as the gnome file browser (which can't preview music modules, but instead crashes).

  > I have verified that upstream version 0.8.8 resolves this problem.

  > I can provide a backtrace of the crash, but bringing in a new upstream release seems like the best fix here.

  The debian bug has been fixed. Please pull package version 0.8.8 from
  debian into lucid.
