Tested Ubuntu 15.04 as well, it does not work either...
Is it possible that new Touchpads are not supported by new linux distros? 
(Touchpads manufactured in 2014 and since)

Bug description:
  I purchased a new ACER Aspire E15 Start - ES1-512-C7UP laptop and wanted to use Elementary OS.
  (new stable version, based on Ubuntu)

  Touchpad is not working, USB Mouse is OK.

  Followed the steps describing here:
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection

  Could only attach 1 file, sadly.

  Situation:
  - touchpad never worked,
  - not listed among devices
