[Bug 1484210] [NEW] package linux-firmware 1.143.2 failed to install/upgrade: cannot copy extracted data for './lib/firmware/iwlwifi-8000C-13.ucode' to '/lib/firmware/iwlwifi-8000C-13.ucode.dpkg-new': unexpected end of file or stream

Public bug reported:

Starting at around 10:20 AM Pacific time on August 12th, 2015 my system
started experiencing non-stop errors. Mozilla Firefox crashed, the OS
started experiencing errors. I shut down the system completely and then
booted back up. However, this didn't fix the problem. I tried applying
the latest updates, but those won't install either and produced this
crash report.
