[Bug 1490846] Re: consistent kernel panic with 3.13.0-62-generic and other errors - fails to boot
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream stable kernel?
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the
latest v3.13 stable kernel[0].
If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.
If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.
If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".
Thanks in advance.

Title:
consistent kernel panic with 3.13.0-62-generic and other errors -
fails to boot
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
consistent kernel panic with 3.13.0-62-generic and other errors - fails to boot
System: Inspiron 3451
Dell Inspiron 3000 14" with native Ubuntu 14.04
I tried to report it on the dell support forum and included pictures:
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/f/3525/t/19648359
basically a lot is going on and i (and other people) are having
consistent kernel panics with the latest kernel update
(3.13.0-62-generic). I took multiple pictures with my camera. here are
the various errors i have seen:
BUG: soft lockup - CPU2 stuck for 23s! [swapper/0:1]
fixing recursive fault but reboot is needed!
perf samples too long, lowering kernel.perf_event_max_sample rate to
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
exitcode=0x00000009
"ubuntu-bug linux" failed and said: "problem in linux-image-3.13.0-38-generic"
1) cat /proc/version_signature > version.log
2) sudo lspci -vnvn > lspci-vnvn.log
neither of the above commands did anything.
