Title:
slow speed (1MB/S) on ubuntu karmic 9.10 64-bit using smcwusb-g
  (ezconnect)

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: linux-backports-modules-wireless-karmic-generic

  hello

here is iwconfig, wlan1 is the problematic one, wlan2 side-by-side.

  wlan2 IEEE 802.11bg ESSID:"Acutron"
            Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: 00:13:F7:E7:51:61
            Bit Rate=54 Mb/s Tx-Power=27 dBm
            Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
            Power Management:off
            Link Quality=70/70 Signal level=-17 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
            Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

  wmaster0 no wireless extensions.

  wlan1 IEEE 802.11bg ESSID:"Acutron"
            Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: 00:13:F7:E7:51:61
            Bit Rate=1 Mb/s Tx-Power=27 dBm
            Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
            Power Management:off
            Link Quality=60/100 Signal level=60/100
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
            Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

wlan1 displays low signal level and slow speed, wlan2 is internal and
was performing much worse and in a buggy fashion before the upgrade
from 9.04 to 9.10. That was the reason I had the smc unit. Now the
  problem has reversed.
