Message #134264
[Bug 1494792] [NEW] Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS [TravelMate 8200] Firewire prevents booting
Public bug reported:
Downloaded Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS.
Created DVD
Boot from DVD
Get the all too common black screen and machine hang.
Using various options finally get: firewire_ohci: Failed to set link Power Status
So, using all the options, both at the same time, individually and a combination thereof:
blacklist=firewire_ohci (gets past the black screen at leaast, but hangs on ubuntu loading screen)
nofirewire (no change)
rd.driver.blacklist-firewire_ohci (no change)
modprobe.blacklist=firewire_ohci (no change)
This is the same as the bug reported here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/981936
I am unable to provide any further information or 'report from a
console' or anything because I can't even install Ubuntu. I can't get
anywhere. The information I have provided is all I am able to provide.
** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
** Tags: boot dvd i386 install kernel-bug lts
