Title:
HP Smart Array controller in HP Proliant G6 servers prints "cciss:
  fifo full"

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
On recent HP Proliant servers such as the DL160 with at least the HP
Smart Array P410i the kernel logs this message when ever there is
  significant disk IO:

  cciss: fifo full

HP has an advisory on this issue which seems to be fixed in more
  recent kernels:

  http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c01688233

This issue only shows up when you don't have the Battery Backed Cache
option for the Smart Array controller.
