Title:
Unable to boot Dell Sputnik (XPS 13 Developer Edition) after upgrading
  to linux-image-3.19.0-30-generic.

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
My XPS 13 has been online for a few days on linux-
image-3.19.0-28-generic and I just got around to rebooting after the
  linux-image-3.19.0-30-generic update.

I have a BIOS password then full-disk encryption.

After rebooting (both soft reboot and hard poweroff/on) I can enter my
BIOS password but no longer have keyboard at the full-disk encryption
unlock screen and can't enter my password. Also, nothing shows up on
my external monitor with 3.19.0-30 while it does show up on 3.19.0-28.

I can hit Ctrl-Alt-Del on that screen so my XPS 13 is seeing my
keyboard; I just can't type my password.

Rebooting, selecting Advanced, and booting into 3.19.0-28 "fixes" my
  system, everything works as expected.

Rebooting, selecting Advanced, and booting into 3.19.0-30 exhibits the
same symptoms. No keyboard or external monitor. Sometimes the full-
disk encryption unlock screen doesn't even appear. Just the
aubergineish colored background and nothing else shows up. Hitting
Ctrl-Alt-Del reboots the system as expected.

Rebooting, selecting Advanced, and booting in 3.19.0-30 recovery
allows me to enter my password during the console bootup but nothing
shows up on my external monitor. When I Resume the normal bootup
sequence I get into Ubuntu Desktop but I have no external monitor, the
system is at a constant 25% CPU across all four cores, and every
keypress, click, or action is lagged by a second or two. When doing
any task that involves fades (like Alt-Tab) it takes two to five
seconds for each fade to finish. It took almost 30 seconds to Alt-Tab
  between two windows.
