Title:
Unable to disable SMART for Corsair Neutron GTX SSD
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
During every boot sequence, SMART commands are sent to this SSD,
causing a minute long hang, until a kernel error message appears,
telling me that some SMART command failed. Since SSDs are not the
target audience for SMART checks anyway, I wanted to disable smart
checks through gnome-disk tool.
When I tried to disable SMART for this disk, I got the following error message:
===============================================================================================
Error sending ATA command SMART, sub-command DISABLE OPERATIONS: ATA command failed: error=0x04 count=0x00 status=0x51 (g-io-error-quark,0)
===============================================================================================
After closing the error dialog, SMART switch in the window is turned
back on :( All I wanted was disable SMART checks during boot time for
this disk ....
The kernel message (taken from dmesg output) regarding SMART and the SSD at boot time is as follows:
===============================================================================================
[ 101.743095] ata4.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x0
