Re: [Bug 1503931] Re: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at fffffffffffffff8

Hi Christopher

I am a fan for Ubuntu but my background is hardware development
primarily in radio telecommunication systems but also other areas in
electronic design. I am not a software developer and only use
applications for mathematical analysis and simulation. I reported the
crash due to the prompt to do so but these crashes are not catastrophic
and Ubuntu just goes on :-) . However I would like to assist Ubuntu as
best I can and should be able to test versions as virtual machines using
Virtualbox. Unfortunately Virtualbox has become somewhat flaky these
days especially when creating virtual machines - I use Mint Cinnamon
with an earlier version of Virtualbox as this seems to work eventually.
Virtualbox with Windows 10 for example is a massive failure and this
marriage from hell results in an application that is actually impossible
to even remove! However Virtualbox always works on Linux for running a
VM but remains problematic when attempting to create them. However I'll
persevere and report back if I make any progress.

Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested.
