[Bug 1224415] Re: Black screen on boot due to low brightness setting
Erno Kuusela, as per http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers an
update is available for your BIOS (2.20). If you update to this, does it
change anything?
If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

Bug description:
On boot the screen is completely black, but the fn-arrow keys can be
used to turn the backlight up. This is on Asus Aspire V5 573G. Same
problem with mainline kernel.
