[Bug 1510301] Re: Graphics corruption with nouveau

This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves
the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the
results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-
wily' to 'verification-done-wily'.

If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will
be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how
to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!

Bug description:
After upgrading to Wily, I'm experiencing severe graphics corruption
in KDE/Plasma. My graphics card is "01:00.0 VGA compatible controller:
NVIDIA Corporation GT218M [NVS 3100M] (rev a2)" and I use the nouveau
drivers. My problem matches that of Freedesktop.org bug 92504 [1] and
applying the patch from its comment 23 [2] seems to alleviate my
  problem.

After correcting line numbers, the patch applies cleanly to the Wily
kernel. I do not understand the nouveau code or the patch, but it
seems the patch could easily be backported to correct a severe problem
that surely affects a lot of users.
