[Bug 1223296] Re: System freezes when RAM is 100% used
Unfortunately I can't try a new kernel on my machine, anyway I tried to
replicate the same problem using malloc + memset. I know it's trivial
but in this way I can avoid using complex softwares like R or MATLAB.
Given the 'top' stops refreshing once my RAM is full I cannot see if the
system uses swap space correctly.

Title:
System freezes when RAM is 100% used
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
As in Bug #1162073, when my memory usage arrives at 100% (e.g. using
MATLAB or R and allocating a large array) the system starts to freeze
and I need to kill the program by terminal (usually loggin in from
another computer). I have 12 Gb of RAM.
