[Bug 1465439] Re: "Can't eject cd rom : Inappropriate ioctl for device"

I have the same issue. I suspect something unique about our DVD drives
or the way they are defined.

sudo lshw -C disk gives

  *-cdrom
       description: DVD reader
       product: COMBO SOHC-4836V
       vendor: LITE-ON
       physical id: 0.0.0
       bus info: scsi@0:0.0.0
       logical name: /dev/cdrom
       logical name: /dev/cdrw
       logical name: /dev/dvd
       logical name: /dev/sr0
       logical name: /mnt/cdrom
       version: SG$4
capabilities: removable audio cd-r cd-rw dvd
       configuration: ansiversion=5 mount.fstype=udf mount.options=ro,relatime,utf8 state=mounted status=nodisc

Title:
"Can't eject cd rom : Inappropriate ioctl for device"

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
Can't eject an empty CD-Rom tray.

None of the things suggested here
  (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/udev/+bug/875543) work. At
best, working from a console, I get the message above. At worst, the
CD drawer "grunts" as though trying to eject, but doesn't open.

Using a paperclip to push the hidden manual release does work, and
once the tray has a CD in it, it ejects every time.
