[Bug 1545902] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 desktop bug

Hi,

It looks like there are some issues supporting your videocard in the latest kernel versions
( http://www.spinics.net/lists/intel-gfx/msg83618.html )
It could be very helpfull to collect some logs in order for the problem to be handled.
Please follow the following guides:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Bugs
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/KernelTeamBugPolicies

As you can see from the links, as a last resort, at a minimum, your bug
report should contain the output of the following commands:

$ uname -a > uname-a.log
$ cat /proc/version_signature > version.log
$ dmesg > dmesg.log
$ sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log

Title:
  Ubuntu 16.04 desktop bug

Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Pardon me for the lack of information I am about to provide. I am
  fairly new to Ubuntu and am using the 16.04 in order to use wifi on my
  Dell XPS 13 9350. I believe I have found a bug related to the desktop
  or unity. This us d to happen with the earlier builds of 16.04 but as
  the development has increased the frequency has decreased.

  Basically what happens is the desktop has some severe crashes at
  startup. For one no icons appear (not even the top menu bar) and the
  only thing I can see if "wireless connection established" box and it
  rapidly appears on and off rapidly to no avail until I force shut off
  the computer. The only solution I have found is wiping the build and
  starting with the new daily live build.

  This doesn't happen all the time, in fact it happens randomly from
  what I can tell. No particular thing causes it...

  Again sorry for the lack of information.
