Message #166583
[Bug 1497627] Re: Periodically video will freeze for no reason at all and no specific time between freezes.
I've been a bit negligent about reporting the last couple of freezes as
it seems like nothing is being done about it. So now I'd like to report
that on 02/25/2016; 03/08/2016 and 03/11/2016 the video froze, the mouse
cursor would move as you can see the attached syslog snippets the system
continues to function. I've been running kernel 3.19.0-51-generic
#58~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Feb 26 22:02:58 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64
GNU/Linux since the 03/08/2016 freeze.
Mar 8 14:45:14 localhost kernel: [ 0.000000] Linux version
3.19.0-51-generic (buildd@lgw01-44) (gcc version 4.8.4 (Ubuntu
4.8.4-2ubuntu1~14.04.1) ) #58~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Feb 26 22:02:58 UTC
2016 (Ubuntu 3.19.0-51.58~14.04.1-generic 3.19.8-ckt13)
The "Hangcheck timer elasped......." error has not shown up in any of
these video freezes.

Title:
Periodically video will freeze for no reason at all and no specific
time between freezes.
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
What I expect to happen is the video to not freeze every so often.
What happened is that the video froze. This has been going on for over a year. It doesn't matter if I have any applications open such as Evolution or Firefox. It could happen any time during the day when I'm working on the computer or during the night when it's the most idle. Once the video freezes the cursor can still be moved around the desktop however clicking on anything does not work. During this time all background process and cronjobs continue to run.
